Wen
Matthews-Naumann,

(they/them)

Hi, I am Wen.

I am the Chief of Operations (COO) here at RISE. I am a native New Yorker with that East Coast vibe. I am a non-binary, intersex, queer, and autistic savant with Tourette Syndrome. This combination of identities makes me a rarity at less than 0.0018% of the world population.

I have an extensive medical background with degrees in science, clinical laboratory science, and a minor in psychology. I have worked for three medical examiner's offices in as many states, anatomical donations at the University of Michigan, and a neuropsychology practice.

I am 3/4 machine (machine=highly efficient & productive), 1/4 human. being., Lego lover, chai tea latte-dependent life form, science enthusiast, unintentional Titanic historian, maker person, creator of all of the things, and holder of opinions, many of which are shared with only my closest people.

In March of 2022, I started RISE with my extraordinary wife, Lindsay. She is the director of RISE, and, without question, she is the brains behind the practice. My job is to ensure day-to-day operations go as smoothly as possible. Additionally, I created and continue to maintain the RISE website.

RISE was created out of a deep passion for the communities we serve, and a white-knuckle resolve toward social justice. I believe in our values and know that sexual health is inextricably bound to both physical and mental health. I am viscerally protective of our clients because the majority of them hold multiple marginalized identities, and shame around past trauma and sexual health concerns, and it is super important to me that they feel seen and heard.

When you reach out to RISE it is likely me responding. I am always happy to receive client inquiries because I know folks are one step closer to the care they need and deserve. Thank you for taking the time to read about us, and I hope you will visit the contact page and inquire. I would love to get you scheduled with a therapist who can help support you and assist you in reaching your goals.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. In the meantime, take good care of yourself.

Side note: I get asked frequently if I am a therapist, no, I am not a therapist, but I can help connect you to a great RISE therapist.
