Hi! I am happy our paths have crossed, and you’re seeking a therapy journey. It can be daunting to start, but RISE is a safe space to grow, learn, and share your story.
My name is Lexie! I use she/her pronouns, and I am honored to be a therapist here at RISE. I have a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. I am a white, cis, queer woman from Kentucky and a first-generation college student. I am a complex trauma survivor myself and am dedicated deeply to helping folks reconnect to their voice and be empowered by their stories. I am also the oldest of five children, and as an eldest daughter, I understand the pressures and complexity of being a caregiver at an early age and the unique perspective of eldest children in large families.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent years working at Planned Parenthood Kentucky in various roles. I have a background in sex education, LGBTQIA+ support and empowerment, gender affirming care, high-stress work environments such as policy and grassroots roles, and community care. I thrive in helping others and working in sexual health; truly, it is my passion and calling.
I will be utilizing narrative, person-centered, affirming therapeutic modalities. Reclaiming your voice during or after life changes can be painful, but it should not be isolating. I am deeply committed to cultivating a consent-based culture in life, in community, and in the therapy room. I am particularly passionate about working with teens and adults navigating transitional journeys and living intentionally.
I invite all people, stories, and lived experiences into the therapeutic space! Populations that may especially resonate with my therapeutic style are LGBTQIA+ folks, those working in the helping profession and high-stress roles, eldest daughters, college students, and survivors of sexual violence. This is not an exhaustive list, and I use a narrative, strengths-based approach in healing, so if you’re looking for a therapeutic journey that involves owning your story and feeling empowered, then let’s connect! Understanding the roots of who you are allows us to grow and flourish. I believe that caring for every part of you and your lived experiences is central to a future of empowerment and peace.
In my personal time, I love hiking, especially in the Appalachian Mountains and PNW! I have a lovely therapy kitty named Lemon who always comes dressed in her best tuxedo. You can usually find me listening to Kesha, Beyoncé, or Florence + The Machine, or an audiobook in between sessions. I love tarot cards, trees, aquariums, and crafting fun lattes as well!
In the words of the wonderful, insightful Kentuckian, Bell Hooks, “Knowing how to be solitary is central to the art of loving.” I believe that joy is fundamental to healing and the core of human connection. We thrive when we are connected to what brings us joy. We thrive when compassionate to ourselves and in community. The therapy journey can center joy and healing simultaneously.
Your story is worthy of being heard and cared for with safety and respect. And above all, it is yours to keep, water, and let grow.
