Hi there!

I'm thrilled you’re considering therapy at RISE.

My name is Mari and I'm here to create a supportive and compassionate space where you feel safe to explore your feelings and experiences.

I integrate various therapeutic modalities, including Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT. My practice is informed by intersectional feminist and anti-racist frameworks, ensuring a holistic approach to mental health. I specialize in working with trauma and neurodiversity, including ADHD, ASD, and OCD. As a neurodivergent and trans individual myself, I believe in the importance of identity-affirming care and bring this understanding into my practice.

I hold an MPH in Health Behavior and Health Education and an MSW in Integrative Health, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse from the University of Michigan. During my MSW program, I received a certificate in Trauma-Informed Practice. As for my undergraduate schooling, I earned a BA in Gender and Health with a minor in Community Action and Social Change in 2019. With over eight years of experience supporting LGBTQ+ adolescents and adults, I have worked with a diverse range of gender identities, gender presentations, and sexual orientations.

Why sexual health and education? For me, empowerment and autonomy come from knowledge of ourselves, our bodies, our experiences, and general access to information. For so many of us, we have not had access to good inclusive, non-judgemental sexual health education whether that be due to systems of oppression invalidating our identities, sexual shame, sexual trauma, or any other plethora of experiences that shape and impact our relationships to our bodies and sex. So I hope to be a source of inclusive, non-judgemental information and insight.

In our sessions, you'll find an empathetic and curious therapist who values trust and partnership.

Outside of work, I enjoy snuggling with my resistant kitties, dancing, crafting, and spending quality time with loved ones over a charcuterie board.
